Richard has many talents - from establishing and maintaining excellent
interpersonal relationships, to producing effective creative solutions
to practical and technical problems. This, and the ability to make functional
models, attracted the attention of prestigious blue-sky research company,
Starlab (set up by Walter
De Brouwer) and internationally renowned, Cranfield
is a persuasive mediator and negotiator, is highly organised, and produces
high quality work.
2004 he developed Heuristic Consultancy - whereby people focus their thinking
in special ways, gain a clear organisational overview, and apply common
sense rules and plain language in order to increase the probability of
developing lasting solutions to perceived problems - in essence, maximising
what they often already know.
Currently, Richard has written a
number of books on changing personal reality and also runs
a discussion meetup group called
Chat to Change. He is also an art teacher for a local group
near Wakefield and Leeds.

Ambassador for Science & Technology
- SETNET (Bedfordshire).
(Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Network) - later renamed
Stemnet (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network) - a
UK-wide charity that promotes Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics
(STEM) awareness, especially among young people in schools. Richard worked
with the Bedfordshire & Luton group.

Developing, producing and delivering multimedia e-learning lecture material
for various Cranfield University projects. Liaising with senior academics
and international project partners, including: Imperial College (London),
RMIT (Australia), BAE Systems (Farnborough and Warton).
Aircraft Evacuation Trials
Between 2001 and 2003 Richard worked with other volunteers to test new
aircraft evacuation equipment and emergency exit navigation devices. Trials
included black-out conditions, smoke-filled cabins and blocked exits.
The outcomes of some of this research was subsequently employed in commercial

Managing technical support and providing teaching support across four
areas of Performing Arts: Theatre, Media, Popular Music and Dance. Also
responsible for college-wide audio-visual provision and maintenance for
250 staff and 10,000 students.
Nov-Dec 2000 Research Consultant - Starlab,
"In 2000, I was asked to go to Starlab on a four week contract
to develop new technology devices. I developed 'Story Book Creator' (for
children) and 'Objects that know they're not there' (a loss prevention
system for personal objects - later to become more familiar as RF tagging).
I also contributed to i-wear (technology built into clothing); artificial
intelligence; and nanotechnology. (Offered permanent position, but company
went into liquidation before I could join. In October 2011, a few Starlabbers
met in Barcelona for a reunion and sharing of their current projects."
